Welcome Blood Center of Northcentral Wisconsin!
Did you previously donate with the Blood Center of Northcentral Wisconsin (BCNW)? BCNW is now a part of The Community Blood Center!
BCNW and CBC share a long history of providing hospitals with a secure, local blood supply. In January 2022, BCNW and CBC partnered to expand the donor base and blood collection services through a new, non-profit entity, Midwest Blood Centers. Both organizations continued to operate independently under this partnership and maintained their respective identities.
To optimize the strengths of both organizations, BCNW and CBC have seamlessly integrated and are now functioning as a unified entity under the CBC organization. The Wausau donor center at 211 Forest St. formerly associated with BCNW has transitioned to The Community Blood Center, embracing CBC’s mission, vision, and values.
The Community Blood Center is about connecting lives and sharing life. As a local non-profit, area hospitals rely on us to provide a safe and steady blood supply to support cancer patients, trauma and ICU patients, surgeries, and general medicine. And we rely on volunteer blood donors like you to do so. CBC operates donor centers in Appleton, Oshkosh, Little Chute, and Woodruff as well as fixed sites in Rhinelander and Merrill. In a few short weeks, new donor centers will be opening in Green Bay and Chicago, IL. We are pleased to include the BCNW Wausau location in the CBC family of donor centers.
We value and respect your time and want to continually provide options to improve your experience. Here’s what you can expect as we integrate:
- Your donor experience will not change. You will receive the same excellent service and engage with the same friendly, knowledgeable staff at the Wausau donor center. You can also be confident that the blood collection process and safety protocols will continue to follow the highest standards.
- Your blood donations will stay local to support hospitals and medical centers around Central and Northern Wisconsin.
- More options to schedule a donation appointment.In addition to scheduling a donation time over the phone, you can now utilitze the convenient 24×7 online scheduling through the website: communityblood.org. Wausau donor center hours and community blood drives are listed on this website. We always welcome walk-in donors, as well.
- New online donor questionnaire to shorten your appointment time. Through a new online donor portal, you can now complete the donor questionnaire prior to your appointment on the same day as your appointment.
To help keep all donors up-to-date on all that’s happening at CBC, we will soon begin using only CBC’s social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn) and CBC’s website (communityblood.org). We encourage you to follow these social media accounts and favorite communityblood.org for easy access on all that’s happening in Wausau and throughout all our locations. By the end of December 2023, BCNW’s social media accounts and website will no longer be in use.
