Platelet Recruitment Specialist

JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for recruiting whole blood donors for platelet donations, aiming to optimize product utilization and achieve goals.  Implements automation conversion programs for first-time donors to support increased donor frequency and retention. This individual is responsible for educating donors and staff of the importance of platelet donations.   Engaging in field conversion activities, contributing to continuous evaluation of the donor base, and adapting platelet recruitment strategies to enhance effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES (other duties may be assigned):

  • Hours are Monday – Friday plus additional early mornings, nights, and weekends as required to support blood drive activities.
  • Visits operational sites to actively recruit donors for platelet profiling.
  • When calling donors for platelet donations, thoroughly explain the process and address any questions they may have.
  • Provides training and education.
  • Provides staff from various departments with support of platelet collection activities.
  • Accessible to address inquiries regarding eligibility and conversion programs.
  • Provides direction and evaluation of customer service initiatives by monitoring areas of concern and making recommendations for additional training.
  • Establishes processes for donor feedback (e.g. follow up call, thank you calls, satisfaction surveys) to support donor retention. Tracks donor feedback and responds promptly and appropriately. Acknowledges first-time donors by following up via phone in a timely manner.
  • Supports relative marketing initiatives by serving as a brand ambassador.
  • Field responsibilities include, but are not limited to, delivering educational presentations, directly recruiting at mobile blood drives or donor centers, participating in community outreach events, and conducting tours of donor centers for prospective audiences.
  • Creates and manages staff and donor promotions to increase platelet collections.

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:     High School diploma or equivalent

Experience:    2 years of sales, account management or equivalent experience Intermediate computer knowledge

Skills:            Public relations, customer service and volunteer experience preferred
                       Excellent interpersonal communication skills
                       Reliable transportation for this position is required along with a current, valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance coverage.
                       Ability to organize and prioritize
                       Works well under pressure and meets deadlines
                       Lead others through coaching/training
                       Must maintain strict confidentiality of CBC and CBC donor information
                       Employees may occasionally be required to lift objects or materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
