The Community Blood Center and Blood Center of Northcentral Wisconsin Take Next Steps to Increase Blood Supply for Wisconsin

October 20, 2023

The Community Blood Center (CBC) and the Blood Center of Northcentral Wisconsin (BCNW) are excited to announce that the two organizations have integrated as of October 9, 2023. This step will increase the donor base and blood collections to support local hospitals and communities throughout Wisconsin.

CBC and BCNW, both non-profit organizations, have a long history of providing hospitals with a secure, local blood supply. In January 2022, the organizations joined forces to increase efficiency and blood collection services. While they continued to operate as independent organizations since, we are proud to announce the two organizations have begun integrating to operate under the CBC name and brand. BCNW will adopt The Community Blood Center name as well as CBC’s mission, vision, and values.

As BCNW transitions to CBC, the Wausau community will benefit as CBC adds outreach programs and resources to expand the local donor base and increase the life-saving blood supply for our hospital partners.

The integration also allows CBC and BCNW to streamline its processes and improve the donor experience throughout CBC’s Midwest footprint. “The integration of CBC and BCNW allows us to leverage the best of each organization to grow the blood supply for our local hospital partners and their patients,” commented Emily Jolin, President and Chief Executive Officer, Blood Center of Northcentral Wisconsin.

BCNW employees and volunteers at the Wausau donation center will continue to provide blood collection services. Volunteer blood donors can expect to engage with the same friendly, professional staff. Donors can also be assured that their blood donations will support hospitals in their local community.

John Hagins, President and Chief Executive Officer, The Community Blood Center, commented, “The partnership of CBC and BCNW is a win-win for all – donors, our hospital partners, and the local communities we serve – as we work together to fulfill our mission to connect lives and share life.”
