#P4P – What Path Will Your Platelets Take?

Platelet donors give a special gift when they make a donation with CBC. They send their platelets on a path to those who need them most. With the #Path4Platelets, regular platelet donors receive CBC-branded merchandise as a small reflection of our gratitude for their donations.

How does the #Path4Platelets work?

  • When you visit CBC for your platelet donation, ask for a #Path4Platelets punch card at registration.
  • Each time you present to donate, you’ll receive one punch.
  • If you present to donate platelets on Saturday, Sunday or Monday, you will receive 2 punches.
  • At both 5- and 10-punch increments, you can choose from a variety of awesome CBC-branded items!

Be The Match

Every 3 minutes a person is diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukemia. In addition to helping to connect area patients with the blood that they need, The Community Blood Center is also a proud partner of the Be The Match bone marrow registry.

In some situations, the only chance that a patient has at survival is to receive a bone marrow transplant. Yet, finding a matching donor is often a difficult and arduous process. That’s why CBC partners with Be The Match – to connect patients such as Mira with critically important bone marrow donations.

About Be The Match

Be The Match is the largest, most diverse registry of potential marrow donors and cord blood units in the world, offering one-on-one support, education and guidance before, during and after transplant. But first, a marrow match must be found, and many patients still don’t have a donor.

We are committed to providing the best possible outcome for patients. We encourage people between the ages of 18 and 44 to join the Be The Match Registry. The reason we ask individuals between the ages of 18 and 44 is because when a patient needs a bone marrow donor, the donor that is chosen is between these ages over 90% of the time.

If you meet the age requirements and are interested in becoming a member of the registry, please review our Medical Guidelines first.

If you have questions or are interested in joining, please call Jessica Klingberg at (920) 560-6630 or jklingberg@communityblood.org.

Those between the ages of 45 and 60 who want to join Be The Match Registry are welcome to do so, but must join at join.bethematch.org/cbc. You will be required to make a $100 payment at the end of the online process to cover the cost to join.
