Sharon

April 23, 2020

“It’s just that feeling of giving back, I love that feeling.”

So goes the explanation that Sharon gives for her two-plus years working the cafe counter at CBC, which follows her long nursing and partner relations career with ThedaCare: that once you’ve had a career helping people, it isn’t easy to give that up.

A resident of Shiocton, Sharon keeps herself busy in the summertime with gardening and reading, but at this time of year, it’s a different pastime that occupies her hours. “I love the Brewers, love the Packers and Badgers,” she explains. “And plus, I can knit during the games.”

And this touches on another fascinating feature of this mother of three and grandmother of ten: she knits hats for the Children’s Hospital, making certain that the kids facing uphill battles know that someone out there cares, even if they might never meet.

“It only takes a couple hours to knit the hat,” she says, “and we’ll all be needing warmer hats here pretty soon!”
