Cookie-cutting and kick-off blood drive celebrates relationship between The Community Blood Center and Door County Medical Center

May 15, 2019

On Tuesday, May 14, Door County Medical Center and The Community Blood Center (CBC) held a cookie-cutting event and kick-off blood drive in celebration of the ongoing partnership between the two organizations. CBC has been the sole provider of blood and blood products to Door County Medical Center since fall 2018.

A cookie-cutting, in place of a ribbon cutting, marked the first day of blood donations by Door County Medical Center where employees volunteered their time to give the gift of life.

“A cookie-cutting event to celebrate our ongoing partnership with Door County Medical Center is fitting because, as donors know, cookies are a staple in the blood donation process,” said Kristine Belanger, vice president of donor services at CBC.

“We’re excited about our relationship with The Community Blood Center,” shared Jane Metko, director of laboratory services at Door County Medical Center. “Our staff sees the need for the blood and blood products The Community Blood Center collects every day. Partnering locally allows us to provide timely care for our patients while further supporting our community through blood donation.”

“We are honored to partner with Door County Medical Center and the entire Door County community,” said Belanger. “A strong and stable blood supply is important for the hospitals we serve and is a responsibility we take seriously. We look forward to hosting more community blood drives throughout Door County in support of the patients in our local hospitals, including those at Door County Medical Center.”
